Hi Brian
We cooked me the tenderloin last night.....
'Over 10 years ago I decided to stop eating meat. It
wasn't that I didn't like meat. My main reason for
stopping was that I was more and more worried about the
way animals were farmed, both in terms of welfare and
use of hormones and other drugs. I actually made the
transition quite smoothly, although I did desperately
miss bacon sandwiches and Sunday roast dinner for a
while!
Then a little while ago a friend took me to see Brian
and Jilly's wild boars. What I saw simply
delighted me. The animals were so well cared for,
healthy and happy. Chatting with Brian, it is obvious
that he takes the welfare of his boar very seriously,
and that he is practical and knowledgeable with it.
I'm the first to recognise that we can only sustain
animals if we farm them so finding people like Brian and
Jilly is terrific.
My friend offered to invite me to dinner to sample some
of the wild boar tenderloin, and - not without a little
trepidation, I admit! - I accepted. I can
report that the meat was delicious and very tender.
Since stopping eating meat, I appreciate the benefits of
a vegetarian diet, but I can certainly see myself making
room for the occasional non-vegetarian dish - and now
I've found it, without a doubt Brian and Jilly's wild
boar will be top on the menu.'
Warmest wishes
xxx
